Today, Pope Francis kisses Ukraine Flag and called for the end of the war. We have all seen the devastation Russia has caused, but we have also seen the courage the Ukrainian people have worn.
Watch here as Pope Francis calls for the end of the war, and also kisses a flag from the city of Bucha, “The Martyred City”.
It’s so easy to forget this is a real war. And with real people.
I don’t understand the language, or the politics. I don’t understand the borders and the geography.
But I do understand that people can do extraordinary things when faced with terrible circumstances.
It’s almost silly to think how brave the Ukraine people are, while I’m just sitting here at my desk. Right now, I’m playing the game where I weigh Ukraine problems with my problems. And I’m just getting really red in the face because my oil change I need to get seems a lot less important than invading Russian forces.
I just feel so helpless for what I can do to help. So, I just try to pray.
It may seem like prayer will do nothing with this situation, and can’t help. But we should always try! I’m not going to let pessimistic media tell me that prayer doesn’t work.
We have seen miracles from prayer. Now is our chance to get another one going.
Pope Francis kissed the Ukraine flag today as a symbol for peace.
Let’s remember that even though we have to get an oil change in the car, we can still have powerful prayers for our brothers and sisters in the Ukraine.
