Sydney McLaughlin: Gold Medal Winner. Christ Follower.

Published on

Sydney McLaughlin won a Gold Medal at the 2020 (2021???) Tokyo Olympics this week. What a special time to watch these Olympians compete at the highest level. I watch these athletes and then look down at my plate of food, then back up to the TV, and I am glad THEY are the ones representing our country!

Something I think is really special was what Sydney McLaughlin posted to Instagram after she won her race. If you didn’t see the race, it is a MUST WATCH! I can’t post it here, because NBC has an embargo on the highlights, but some simple googling will let you watch the race. It’s thrilling.

Her Faith really spoke to a lot of people. It’s always amazing to see people do great things, and always really cool to see them give glory to God.

Here are her own words below:

Let me start off by saying, what and honor it is to be able to represent not only my country, but also the kingdom of God. What I have in Christ is far greater than what I have or don’t have in life. I pray my journey may be a clear depiction of submission and obedience to God. Even when it doesn’t make sense, even when it doesn’t seem possible. He will make a way out of no way. Not for my own gratification, but for His glory. I have never seen God fail in my life. In anyone’s life for that matter. Just because I may not win every race, or receive every one of my heart’s desires, does not mean God had failed. His will is PERFECT. And He has prepared me for a moment such as this. That I may use the gifts He has given me to point all the attention back to Him. ??❤️

2x Olympian, Olympic Champion, World Record Holder

Thank. You. God. ??

What an amazing witness to living out true talents, while following God. She sets such a strong example of achieving greatness and staying faithful.

Greatness does not mean doing things in spite of God. IT means doing great things in service of God.

Thank you Sydney McLaughlin gives incredible witness to this!
